The Studio Classic amp is really the 53 Deluxe with a more elaborate tone control. The follower driven Baxandel tone stack expands the tonal possibilities of this model in addition to giving it a softer touch. Pinch harmonics and other picking hand effects are easier to obtain. It is an incredibly musical amp and has become one of my favorites. It sounds great with any guitar played any style at any volume. The versatility of the tone stack also makes this amp especially good for harp players as feedback can easily be controlled.
For recording and live performance purposes a 600 ohm balanced line-out with level control has also been provided. Since the circuit for the line-out is built around the speaker jack the load attached to the amplifier will determine the sound obtained at the line-out jack. What you hear out of your speaker is what you will record
In addition to it being an exceptional plug and play model, it also excels with pedal boards. The front end of this amplifier was designed to give it a more focused attack characteristic resulting in more clean headroom. Clean headroom with sustain and a wonderfully ringing tone.
Looking across the front panel of the amp from left to right are located the input jack, volume, treble, and bass controls. On the back panel from left to right are located the power cord, fuse holder, power switch, speaker jack, line-out level control, and line-out jack. The amp uses two 12AX7 tubes for pre-amp and phase inverter, and two 12AU7 tubes in the push-pull output section. The amp makes about 2 watts clean and about 4-5 watts peak power.
