The circuit for the Fender 59 Bassman is probably the most copied and modified of all the classic amplifier designs. All the variations of Marshall amplifiers and many great boutique designs are based on this tried and true amp circuit. It has become synonomous with great tone. Because of this status, the Miniatures of the Classics series would not be complete without a representative.

Although the basic circuit and component values are mostly the same as the original, there are some important differences in the Miniatures version. The original design had two separate channels that feed the two sides of the first tube in the pre-amp section. The Miniatures version has a single channel fed into the first tube with all similar sections tied together so it works as one big tube resulting in a fatter tone. In the power section, instead of using two 12AU7 tubes like the other models in the series, this model uses a single 5687 tube. The 5687 tube is a dual triode with characteristics that lend itself favorably for use as a power tube. Although this tube is not in current production, it is still readily available.

For recording purposes and sound reenforcement a 600 ohm balanced line-out with level control is also included with this model. This is the same line-out used in all the models of the Miniatures Series designed to be faithful to the speaker load.

Across the front control panel from left to right are located the input jack, volume control, treble, mid, and bass controls, and presence control. On the back from left to right are located the power cord, power switch, fuse holder, speaker jack, line-out jack, and line-out level control. The amp uses three 12AX7 tubes for pre-amp and phase inverter, and one 5687 tube in push-pull generating 4 watts clean and about 8 watts peak power. This model really has that big fat chimey tweed bassman vibe.
